Cricket Formats

Three Formats — Three Different Experiences

Cricket fans in Bangladesh follow all three formats — T20, ODI and Test — with equal enthusiasm. 66zz has separate markets for each format, making it easier to place bets based on the type of match.

T20

Fastest Format

In T20 tournaments like BPL and IPL, everything is decided in just 20 overs. A quick wicket or boundary can shift the odds in an instant. Every over brings a new opportunity.

ODI

50-Over Contest

Most ICC events and bilateral series are played as ODIs. In the 50-over format, Top Batsman, Total Runs and Powerplay Performance markets tend to be the most popular.

Test

Five-Day Test

In Test matches, the pitch, weather and the depth of each squad play a major role. Patient bettors tend to be most comfortable with Match Winner, Series Winner and individual performance markets.

Which competitions get the most attention?

Among bettors in Bangladesh, BPL generates the most discussion. Fans from Dhaka and across the country treat this tournament as their own celebration. IPL and the T20 World Cup also attract extensive markets on 66zz. When Bangladesh Tigers play in an international match, betting interest naturally rises significantly.

Major events like the ICC World Cup, Champions Trophy or Asia Cup open up far more markets. From Series Winner to the top scorer of a specific innings — there are many options to choose from.

Other Sports

Betting on Football and Other Sports

Football is just as popular as cricket in Bangladesh, but the betting experience is quite different. Cricket has innings-based markets — such as runs per over and number of wickets — which football does not. In football, goals, half-time score and card markets are more common.

Tennis and badminton have set-by-set markets where odds update after each set. Just as a wicket shifts the market in cricket, a goal does the same in football. With virtual sports betting, you can bet on simulated matches at any time without waiting for a real match schedule.

One thing is the same across all sports — betting is for entertainment, not a reliable source of income. Set a budget first, then enjoy the game.

Cricket vs Football — Key Differences

  • Cricket: Over-by-over markets, wicket events, Powerplay specials
  • Football: Goals, corners, cards and half-time markets
  • T20: Fastest odds movements
  • Test: More long-term series markets
Betting Markets

6 Popular Markets Bettors Play the Most

Each market has its own character. Beginners usually start with Match Winner, while experienced bettors move on to multi bets and specialist markets.

Easiest

Match Winner

Which of the two teams will win — this is the simplest market. In a T20 match, bet on whether Team A will win. Example: Team A vs Team B — if Team A has higher odds, Team B is the favourite.

Coin Toss

Toss Winner

You can bet on the toss result before the match starts. Considering the pitch type and team preference — which team, after winning the toss, will choose to bat or field — adds an extra dimension to this market.

Individual Performance

Top Batsman

Which batsman will score the most runs in an innings or across the whole match. Many bettors are drawn to this market by combining a top-order batsman's current form with the pitch conditions.

Runs Based

Total Runs Over/Under

Whether the total runs in a match or an innings will be more or less than a set number — just two options. Example: will total runs be over 160. On a batting pitch, Over is played more; on a bowling pitch, Under.

Multi Bet

Combination Bet

Placing three selections together multiplies the odds. If 3 selections have odds of 1.40, 1.60 and 1.90, the combined odds are 1.40 × 1.60 × 1.90 = 4.26. A ৳100 bet returns ৳426 if all win — but if one loses, the entire bet is void.

Specialist Market

Powerplay and Over-Based

How many runs will be scored or how many wickets will fall in the first 6 overs (Powerplay) — this market is very popular in T20. In in-play betting, this market is open before each over.

Understanding Odds

Decimal, Fractional and American Odds — What Is the Difference?

Odds are written in three ways. All three convey the same information — only the format differs. 66zz generally uses the decimal format, which is the easiest to understand.

Format Example What does it mean?
Decimal 3.00 Total return of ৳3 for every ৳1 staked (profit + original bet)
Fractional 2/1 ৳2 profit for every ৳1 staked
American +200 ৳200 profit on a ৳100 bet

Example 1 — Same Odds in Three Formats

Team A to win — ৳1,000 bet. Decimal 3.00 = Fractional 2/1 = American +200. If it wins, total return is ৳3,000 (৳2,000 profit + ৳1,000 original bet). If it loses, ৳1,000 is gone.

Example 2 — Favourite's Odds

Team B to win — odds decimal 1.50 = fractional 1/2 = American -200 (minus means a ৳200 bet is needed to win ৳100). On a ৳1,000 bet, total return if it wins is ৳1,500 (৳500 profit + original bet).

The examples above are for illustrative purposes only — they are not live odds or any guarantee of winning.

Real-Time Betting

Live In-Play — Odds Shift the Moment a Wicket Falls

66zz Live In-Play Cricket Betting Screen

In in-play betting you can place a bet at any moment while the match is in progress. When a wicket falls or a big six is hit, the odds update immediately. This speed is what makes in-play so engaging.

Wicket Events

After each wicket, the target and run rate for the batting team change. The batting team's odds increase and the bowling team's odds decrease.

Over-by-Over

New markets open at the end of each over — how many runs will be scored in the next over, whether it will be a maiden. The ability to make quick decisions comes into play here.

Run Rate Market

Whether the current run rate can be maintained — this market sees the most odds movement during the middle of a match.

Death Overs Special

In the last 4–5 overs the batting team brings in big hitters. Predicting runs per over in this phase is the most uncertain of all markets.

Betting Tips

What to Know Before You Start

01

Set Your Budget First

Decide in advance how much you will spend on betting each month or week. Do not exceed that limit — even when it seems like a win is coming. Betting is entertainment, not a way to handle financial pressure.

02

Focus on One Market

Instead of betting on many markets at once, start by understanding one or two markets well. Starting with Match Winner or Over/Under helps you build experience more easily.

03

No Rushing in In-Play

Odds move fast in live betting, so there is pressure to decide quickly. But rushing into a bet leads to more mistakes. If you are unsure, skip that over.

04

Show Restraint with Multi Bets

Multi bet odds look large, but if one selection loses everything is gone. Start with fewer selections — getting three predictions right is already difficult.

05

Learn About Responsible Gaming

If betting moves beyond entertainment and becomes a source of stress, take a break. Reading the responsible gaming guidelines will show you how to keep yourself safe.

The Importance of Format in Cricket Betting

In T20, a single over can completely reverse the result of a match. In ODI, maintaining the run rate in the middle overs after the Powerplay matters a great deal. In Test, pitch and weather conditions shape how the game is played in the fourth innings.

Understanding these differences makes it easier to decide which market to bet on. You can learn more by reading the 66zz Bet detailed guide.

Common Questions

Cricket Betting FAQ

T20 is relatively easier for beginners because matches finish quickly and you can start with fewer markets. Starting with Match Winner or Toss helps you get a feel for betting. With ODI or Test betting you need to stay focused for longer, which can be a bit difficult at first.

In in-play betting, odds can change within seconds. When a wicket falls or a big shot is hit, the market updates immediately. For that reason, it is better to look at the odds carefully before deciding in-play — rushing into a bet is not a good idea.

The more selections you add to a multi bet, the bigger the odds get — but the chance of all of them being correct also goes down. Three selections at odds of 1.40 × 1.60 × 1.90 = 4.26, giving you a chance to receive ৳426 on a ৳100 bet, but if one loses the entire bet is void. Keeping it to 2–3 selections generally keeps the risk more manageable.

BPL and IPL matches typically offer Match Winner, Toss Winner, Top Batsman, Total Runs Over/Under, Powerplay Runs and Man of the Match markets. In-play also includes over-by-over markets. Once a tournament begins, a Series Champion market is opened as well.

Most bettors find decimal odds easier. 3.00 means you get back three times your stake in total — straightforward maths. Fractional (2/1) means ৳2 profit for every ৳1 staked — also simple, though working out the total return takes a moment longer. American odds (+/−) are mainly used in the US market, so they are comparatively less familiar here.
